It’s more than the talk of the town.  It’s the talk of Grand Lake.  Where did Amber Benson go?  If you don’t know her, you’ve heard of her.  She’s the woman who is truly gifted at turning homes into castles and boredom into excitement.

Think of your house as a canvas.  When it’s all said and done, you won’t have a masterpiece, you’ll be living in one.  Now in 2004 it’s only fitting that Amber, who has made so many other dreams come true, is fulfilling one of her own.  It’s Nuance Décor in Grove.

“I’ve always wanted to do it on my own.  That was my goal when I went into Interior Design.  I could see the big picture but all I needed was Terry,” said Amber.

The Terry she makes reference is to Terry Robinson, Originally from Miami, she and her husband Sam have been living on Grand Lake since 2000.  The two have been involved in a number of business ventures but never anything in retail.  The concept of Nuance Décor arrived while Terry was facing a new chapter in her life.  She didn’t seek the counseling of Dr. Phil.  The advice came from the two men who know her best; her son and her husband.

“They told me I needed to get a life.  I decided if I was going to get a life, it was going to be fun,” said Terry with a smile.

It was during the Pelican festival in 2003 that Terry had a revelation.  While having lunch with Sam she decided to let the cat out of the bag.  Her plan for getting a life was to approach Amber about opening a full design service business, with a storefront, in Grove.  It only took 104 days for her thoughts to become a reality.  “He said go for it and the rest is history,” said Terry.

Not quote history just yet, but Nuance Décor is sure to make history.  If amber had declined the offer, Terry would still be in search of a life.  The reason is simple.  If she was going to make such a bold move, she could only do it with the best.  In a short span of seven years, Amber has made an incredible impact in her field.  The artistic work she has shown taking care of her client’s lake homes has led them to ask her to do their homes as well.  It’s also transpired into a word-of-mouth campaign that’s put Amber all over the map.  Monkey Island, Texas, Salt Lake City, Tulsa, and Kansas City, just to name a few.  “If it wasn’t for my clients, I wouldn’t be here,” said Amber.

As much as she respects the foundation of her success, Amber also appreciates where she is going.  Humble by nature, she is blown away by the fact that Terry had so much trust in her work that she was willing to invest in her future.  Since their first meeting, they’ve been like two peas in the same pod.

“It is the best compliment you could receive in this business.  It’s unbelievable.  I could never repay her,” said amber.  “I’m so thankful that God put this in her head.  We work wonderful together.”

When these two ladies day “Full Design Service” they mean it.  As of 2004, Amber has a nine-person crew that covers every need including gut-jobs, add-ons, paintings, custom draperies, flooring, and custom cabinets.  When it comes to furnishings and accessories located in the store on Main Street in Grove?  They are all for the taking; for a reasonable cost of course.  If you see something you like?  Take it home.  In this new would of instant gratification, they simply want to oblige.

“I’ve learned that people do not like to wait on things,” said Amber.   When it comes to Terry and her new life, she is like a kid in a candy store.  The doors hadn’t even opened yet and purchases were being made.  She’s genuinely excited about the core of Nuance Décor which is Amber,  As of 2004 she has 250 homes behind her, she’s in a groove like none before.  Her talent is in the sunrise and sunset of every working day.  Terry is no stranger to this truth.  She knows because Amber put a spell on her own home several years ago.  “She adds to what you have and makes it look new again.  She works magic.  She’s amazing,” said Terry.

There is no budget too large or too small for Nuance Décor.  The experience is flexible and comfortable.  Amber will travel to the ends of the earth to please.  Wherever you are in your life she will make your home into a sweeter place to be.  Lived in or brand new.  You build it….. and she will come.
